It was agreed with another private individual (who had returned 50479 & 50531 to service) to take 50556 on. 50556 was thus moved to the Telford Steam Railway in 2001 where some limited conservation work was undertaken. In 12 months, basic mechanical work was completed to allow the vehicle to be moved around the site, windows were replaced and the graffiti removed.
However there were no resources available for full restoration, and 50556 continued to deteriorate. Further attacks resulted in the vehicle losing its glazing again and by 2010 the vehicle's bodywork was considered as scrap condition.
It was decided during the early 2010's that 50556 had deteriorated beyond redemption and any restoration was now beyond the group's resources. The descision was taken to scrap the vehicle and it is currently in store awaiting stripping and final disposal.
