Railcar50

Railcar50 was a celebration gala held at the Severn Valley Railway in 2004 - the 50th birthday of the pioneering First Generation DMU's. M50455/M50517 had only just been introduced into service but was invited to attend, transport costs being aided by a heritage lottery grant.

The gala remains to this day the greatest collection of 1st Generation DMUs operating together at any one time in preservation (16 vehicles were running), and it is unlikely such an event will be feasable in the near future.

For M50455/M50517, the gala meant working in multiple with other DMU's for the first time since their BR days.
