You can give the BRCW Group financial aid every time you bid or buy without it costing you a penny....
You can raise funds for us when you search the web - with easysearch. You don't even need to register.
When you search the Web with easysearch instead of Google or any other search engine, you’ll raise funds for us with every search you make! It’s completely free to use and if you make just 10 searches a day, you could raise £20 a year - or more - for us, just by switching to easysearch.
The BRCW Group have a unique easysearch page at brcw.easysearch.org.uk which can be used every time you search the Web.
The Birmingham Railcar Workgroup understands that there may be people out there who are interested in our activities (or may have enjoyed the fruits of our labour travelling on our vehicles) but for a variety of reasons are unable to contribute to our cause as volunteers. Yet you still may want to support us in other ways.
This appeal is designed for supporters of our group who are unable to help physically or financially. Many now purchase goods and services on the internet as part of everyday life and there is now a way of generating funds for the Birmingham Railcar Workgroup whilst not adding a penny to your purchase (it is similar to the well known Gift Aid scheme in that respect).
The concept is: by just accessing your chosen online site (be it Ebay, Amazon, Argos etc) through www.easyfundraising.org.uk rather than directly through your usual search engine or "favourites" link you can enable the online retailer to give a % of your purchase price to us, the BRCW Group. I'll repeat that this donation comes from the retailer; you pay exactly the same amount for your product as you would do normally, and you order it in exactly the same way.
No such thing as a free lunch I hear? Well the terms are very good in this case. The motivation for online companies to participate is that schemes like this actually attract business to them, whilst also benefitting the BRCW Group financially, providing much needed support keeping Class 104's alive. For someone who wants to support us but thinks that what they have to offer is unsuitable - this may well be the answer!
Step 1: Register
I know the last thing most people want is to have to sign up to another website, but to support us then easyfundraising needs to know who you are and which good cause you wish to support, in this case the Birmingham Railcar Workgroup.
Like most sites these days, registration is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. Just go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk and click on register.
Fill in a few details and check that it has selected Birmingham Railcar Workgroup as the group to support.
Step 2: Shop Normally!
Now all you need to do to support us is remember some easy steps every time you go online to make a purchase:
1) Before making any online purchase, go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk and log in using your E-mail supplied during registration.
2) Use the search bar at the top to find your retailer.
3) Click "Visit Store".
4) Carry on as you would normally. easyfundraising will automatically recognise your purchase and the donation will also automatically be credited to us.
Extra Information & Tips
The key to the scheme is logging in at www.easyfundraising.org.uk before making any online purchases (you have to arrive at your retail website from one of the "Visit Store" links on easyfundraising). To remember to do this, we recommend saving the site to your "favourites" in your browser. Easyfundraising has its own favourites list which you can use so it makes linking to your usual sites even easier.
We know potential supporters may have natural concerns about participating in a scheme of this nature. Therefore we would be very happy to answer any questions you may have or explain anything you don't understand - just use the link below.
The more people prepared to use this as a means of support, the more the group can benefit. Any means of "spreading the word" (after all it's completely free!) would be most appreciated by the BRCW Group, the only organization in world dedicated to the preservation of Class 104 Diesel Railcars.
Effective ways of generating funds
Different types of online purchase generate different amounts of revenue for the BRCW Group. You can help us with two types:
Little & Often
Many retaillers offer a small donation but people use the site frequently, so on a "pennies make pounds" basis, we are trying to encourage as many people as possible to use us for these types of purchases. Examples of popular retaillers used everyday are Ebay, Amazon & Argos.
Larger but less frequent
Larger infrequent purchases give the BRCW Group a much more major boost. For example many insurance companies offer large donations when purchased through easyfundraising. So we suggest that if buying insurance, you naturally search for the cheapest quote, then purchase online through the BRCW easyfundraising system. The price of insurance does not change, but the BRCW Group can benefit emormously.
