W86500 Restoration - November 2009
W86500 is now undercover having full bodywork & roof repairs (from the sole-bar up). Space became available after Class 04 D2334 had been repainted in time for the railway’s Anything Goes Gala in November, and the engine was sparkling in its new green livery. On Friday 13th(!) of that month, the GUV was moved in for its contracted work to be done by Heritage Restorations.
So far the sides have been scrabbled stripping it of all its bodywork paint. A start has been made on the bodywork, and we are hoping the coach does not hide too many horrors, as it looked fairly good before we started looking! The roof vents have also been removed so the roof can be attended to.
Elsewhere, work continues on the wooden end doors, some of which require rebuilding.
