W86500 Restoration

W86500 was bought by a member of the BRCW Group as it was a historical vehicle and was at risk of scrapping. After a brief inspection it was found that the vehicle was in good condition considering how long it had been in storage for. A decision was made that W86500 was not to be stored awaiting attention and that it was to be restored immediately to prevent its condition deteriorating further.

It is thought that cosmetic restoration can be completed in months (as opposed to years) if the help of vehicle restorers Heritage Restorations and other contractors are used. These pages are a restoration diary over the months that this vehicle is to be transformed from its current drab departmental appearance back into its original 1956 condition.
