E56187 was transferred to the Midland region in April 1982 and officially renumbered to 54187 one year later. However It is not known if the vehicle in practice ever received the M prefix or the 4 in place of the 6. In any case, "M54187" (number not visible) returned to its original native region on an excursion, seen alongside 45148 at York whilst working the 09:15 Bangor-Scarborough (BRCW Collection)
